Give yourself PIM role - Sharepoint administrator
Map a network drive to the network folder you want to migrate. For this solution i am mapping the following network folder - \\lancaster.gov.uk\legacy\ServiceData\property\MARKETS
If this is the first time you are doing a migration to Sharepoint you will nned to install the Sharepoint Migration Tool as it is installed per user on Jump02.
I have saved a copy of the tool here - \\jump02\c$\temp\Sharepoint Migration Tool\spmtsetup.exe
Or you can download it from here - Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool
Double click the install file to start the installation, you will be prompted to login when installation has complete.
Login with your lcc-*****@lancastercc.onmicrosoft.com account when prompted to login

Enter the folder path you added as a network drive earlier into the highlighted field, make sure 'Migrate selected folder and folder contents' is selected and click on Next. If you have not mapped the network folder you are wanting to migrate as a network drive the tool will not be able to access the network folder and it will give you an error.

Clicking on next will take you to the next window:-

Click on Sharepoint which will then take you to the next window:-

Enter the url of the SharePoint site you want to migrate files to as highlighted above.
Depending on where you want to migrate the files to within the SharePoint site, select the folder from the drop down list, in this instance i will be leaving the destination as 'Documents' as i want the files to migrate to the root folder of the Markets Sharepoint site.
Click on Next to proceed.
The next window is where you review the details of the migration and give your migration task a name, here i will just add my initials to the default name:-

If you are happy with the details of the migration click on Next to proceed

Leave the above settings as default and click on Start
You should then see something similar to below:-

Depending on how much date there is to upload will determine how long the migration will take, Once complete you will see a window similar to below. Review the details of the migration to check all files have been migrated. Any files not migrated should be contained in the report:-

Click OK which will close the above window and take you back to the migration tool. Click on the X to close the migration tool.
Leave the migrated files on our network for one month to give time for services to check if something is wrong or missing.
