Xpress Release Update Procedure
1 - Installation Steps – Register Checker
- Logon Xpress01 and navigate to D:\Program Files\Civica Ltd\Xpress Register Checker
- Take a copy of the AppSettings.json file and store in a different folder (E.g. Desktop)
- Open Services.msc and right click, stop the XpressRegisterCheckerWorkerService
- Open Control Panel | Programs and Features and uninstall Xpress Register Checker
- Navigate to the Xpress file share ~SETUP\XpressWindowsServices\XpressRegisterChecker and run the Setup.exe
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
- Copy back the AppSettings.json file (backed up in step 2) into D:\Program Files\Civica Ltd\Xpress Register Checker (overwrite the existing version)
- Open Services.msc and right click XpressRegisterCheckerWorkerService and click Start
- Check the latest D:\Program Files\Civica Ltd\Xpress Register Checker\logs file to ensure you are receiving a 200 response.
The version number of Register Checker should now be X.X.X – this can be seen in the log file from step 9 above.
2 - Installation Steps – WebReg
- To install the updated version of WebReg, you will need to navigate to \~SETUP\WebReg\Update Tool\ on the Xpress drive and run WebRegUpdate.exe. The install must be carried out on the web server where WebReg is hosted
- Click Update WebReg Website
- Check the settings fields are all populated as below (account password is in BitWarden)
4. Then click the Update WebReg button and the text box should display it’s progress and subsequent completion as below
3 - Installation Steps - Register and Management(Elections staff can perform this step themselves)
If you run the eXpressReleaseInstaller.exe in the folder \~Updates\Installer\ on the Xpress drive and click the [Install] button.
The New Release programs will automatically install when the Users PC's are rebooted or eXpressCheck can be run manually (Close down Xpress Management and Register, press [Start] button on the taskbar, select [Programs > Startup > eXpressCheck.exe]).
To check if the Release has installed correctly, when running :-
- Register, the Splash Screen should display the Build Version X.XX.X
- New Management, the Status Bar should display the Software Version X.XX.X
