BYOD Android Mobile Device User Guidance
Setting up Company Portal on Android devices
Step 1
Remove any work accounts from 365 Applications on your device (or uninstall if you only use them for work). You will be re-installing them in your work profile once you have created it.
Step 2
From the Play Store install Intune Company Portal, once installed open this and sign in using your work email and password.
Step 3
Create work profile by clicking ‘Begin’.
Step 4
Activate work profile by clicking ‘continue’.
Clicking ‘Done’ at this point will take you to the summary screen shown below where you have the option to go to further information pages if you feel that would be of benefit.
Now when you open your app tray you will see there are 2 tabs ‘Personal’ and ‘Work’. Personal profile will look as it always has and is not affected by any of the company portal restrictions. Work profile will need to you install the apps you need for work e.g. Outlook, OneDrive etc. you will also need a separate camera and gallery app installed here if you use your phone to upload photos into 365 as data cannot be shared between the 2 profiles. These can all be installed from the work Play Store
Step 5
Set up Outlook and gain access to your data
Install Outlook from the Play Store and open the app
Once the account is set up and you first try to access data you will see the following message, click continue and you will be forced to set a 6-digit PIN to access apps within the work profile. This does not affect any PIN you use to unlock your device and is purely for 365 apps in the company portal. You will be required to input this PIN whenever you wish to access organisation data.
Finally in the device drop down settings menu you will find an icon for work apps (looks like a briefcase) which allows you to turn the portal on and off (prevents all notifications from the work profile) allowing you to be truly ‘off the clock’ whenever you choose with one button. This is very important for your mental health and wellbeing and will hopefully allow staff to set healthy boundaries between work and homelife.
