Setting up Self Service Password Reset
If you have previously set multi-factor authentication (MFA) go to the following link
https://aka.ms/ssprsetup
You will see the following webpage:
Click re-enter my password
Enter your password.
This will trigger the MFA method you have previously set up and you will receive a text to the number you specified.
Enter the code received. Click Verify.
If you are not working on a Council provided device, select No to protect accidental data leaks to others in the household/area you’re working in.
Next you will be asked to set up the 2nd form of Authentication whih needs to be an email account you can easily access for the verification code.
Click ‘Set it up now’ on the Authentication Email Address line.
Enter your personal email address, this is only used for authentication you will not get any other email from Microsoft or from Lancaster City Council to this address.
Check the inbox of the account you used and copy the verification code into the box as shown below.
You will also need to re-verify your phone number at this stage. Click Verify (as highlighted below).
Click ‘text me’ after checking the number is correct.
You will receive (yet another) text to your phone. Use this code in the field provided.
If all has gone well you will notice that both your Authentication Phone and Email have green ticks against them as shown below. Click Finish.
